SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS

Guru Purnima (reverence for the line of Spiritual Teachers) will be observed at the Shankara Mound with a program of music, flower offerings, readings and refreshments on Friday, July 18 at 7:30 pm.

On Sunday, August 24, at 7:30 pm, "Janmastami", Birthday of Lord Krishna, will be celebrated with an outdoor program of garlanding of statues of Krishna, followed by an indoor program of meditation, devotional singing & worship. Prasad/refreshment will be served in the Assembly Room.

OUTSIDE VISITOR

Swami Chetanananda, Minister & Spiritual Teacher of the Vedanta Society of St. Louis, will arrive at our center on Friday, July 25 evening. He will participate in the one-day retreat program at our center on Saturday, July 26. He will also give the Sunday lecture on July 27, subject: "A CUDGEL OF DELUSION".

SPECIAL RETREAT

On Saturday, July 26, a one day retreat program will be conducted at our center. Swami Chetanananda, Minister & Spiritual Teacher of the Vedanta Society of St. Louis, will participate in the program. The subject is "How to Live with God ". Click here for a printable announcement and schedule of events.

SUMMER RECESS JULY 28 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 6

Following the Sunday lecture on July 27, there will be no further lectures, classes, Sunday evening vespers, or interviews until September 7 when lectures and other activities will resume. The library will remain closed during the recess. Borrowed books should be returned to the library before the recess. Saturday satsang and daily group meditations will continue. "Janmastami" will be celebrated during the recess (see above).


INTERVIEWS AND PRACTICAL INSTRUCTIONS

Swami Prapannananda will be happy to give interviews to those who want to know more about Vedanta, Hinduism and Meditation. He will also be happy to give guidance to sincere seekers with necessary practical instructions with regard to personal prayers and meditation. Appointments should be made with him in advance: after lectures or classes or by telephone. There will be no interviews during the recess.

LIBRARY

After lectures and classes, the Library is open for borrowing and returning of books. Non-members who want to borrow books should request permission from the Swami. The library will remain closed during the summer recess. Borrowed books should be returned before the recess.

The bookstore is open Tuesday through Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday & Sunday from 12 noon to 3 pm, and is closed Mondays. The bookstore has a good stock of Vedanta, Ramakrishna and Vivekananda literature, and books about the lives and teachings of mystics of the major religious traditions. There is a wide selection of children's storybooks centered on moral and religious values. CDs and cassette tapes of Indian classical music and devotional songs are also available.
The bookstore will be closed during the recess.


AUDIO, VIDEOTAPES, AND ARTICLES OF SWAMI SHRADDHANANDA

Audio tapes of selected lectures and classes, and 13 videos of lectures by Swami Shraddhananda are available for sale. Video tapes are priced at $14.95 and audio tapes at $4.95. Lists of both can be had on request. Seeing God Everywhere, a book on practical spiritual living by Swami Shraddhananda, is available at our bookstore for $12.95.

Swami Shraddhananda, Glimpses of the Swami at Work & Play, a new DVD (115 minutes) is also available in the bookstore.


FRESNO AND DAVIS MEETINGS

Swami Prapannananda is conducting meditation, worship, and talks for the Davis group.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Devotees and visitors are advised to lock their vehicles and not to keep valuables inside. If you need to park a vehicle for a longer than usual period, prior permission is suggested.

KARMA YOGA DAY

You are invited to come and support your center with a morning of light yard work in company with other devotees. We will meet in the auditorium from 8:30 to 9:00 am for silent meditation, spend 3 hours in the garden doing general maintenance tasks, and then enjoy a simple lunch at 12:30. Everyone is welcome to join us on what promises to be a lovely day. Please let us know ahead of time if you intend to come.
